As indicated in the name, this thread is cabled, signifying that the threads have been twisted a first time, then assembled and twisted a second time.
The term "cable", or corded, signifies this double twist. This greatly increases the solidity of the thread, but also results in a rounder profile. It is finished and polished with a small amount of wax.
This is our thickest linen thread at 0.77mm wide - it is particularly suitable for Coptic and Japanese stab stitch style bindings and also traditionally for leatherwork.
