Khadi - Mitsumata JDK

Khadi - Mitsumata JDK
Himalayan washi made from mitsumata (edgewothia papyrefera) using the sophisticated Japanese dipping and layering method "nagashizuki." Pulp is stirred up in a vat of water; the mould (suketa), consisting of a fine bamboo mat (su) supported on a wooden frame (keta), is dipped into the vat. A coagulant derived from okra is added to the vat to aid sheet formation. Sheets are layed on mat and peeled off while wet then pressed and brushed onto zinc sheets to dry. Perfect for printmaking and ink drawing techniques.
Batches will vary in colour and texture.
