1 Day Bookbinding Course £75

This short course will introduce students to the basic skills involved in creating a multi signature book. The course is aimed at beginners, students will use a range of materials and will sew, trim and glue their own books.

This 2 day beginners’ course will introduce students to the basic skills involved in creating single signature books and multi signature books. Students will use a range of materials and will sew, trim and glue their own books.

 1 Day Japanese Binding Course £75

In this 1 day course students will learn how to binding in a Japanese or stab binding style. This techniques involves sewing through a block of paper and creating sewing patterns on the spine of the book. Students will undertake two different books one with a limp cover and one with a hard cover. All materials are supplied.

  1 Day Coptic Binding Course £75

  

 

In this 1 day course students will learn how to create Coptic style bindings. This stitching technique can involve multiple coloured threads and celebrates the exposed spine. Coptic binding is a very creative and design lead sewing style. Students will undertake two different binding techniques.

 1 Day Travel Journal Course £75

  

 

 

In this 1 day course students will learn how to bind their own travel journal complete with pencil holder. Students will fold, sew, trim and case in an A5 notebook which is a perfect journal for your travels. All materials are supplied.

 Rebind a Paperback Course £75

 

 

 

In this 1 day course students will learn how to rebind their own paperback inot a hardback, quarter cloth binding using decorative paper. Studetns must bring a paperback of their choice and must scan, print or phot copy the title page for the label of their book. Cloth and decorative paper will be supplied.

In this 1 day course students will learn how to sew, trim and bind a small photo album; using a quarter cloth binding techniques using decorative paper. The photo album will be landscapre, big enough to hold a standard photo print. Cloth and decorative paper will be supplied.

 Over six weeks of evening workshops students will learn a range of alternative sewing techniques without using adhesive. These will include coptic binding and Japanese stab binding among others. This is a very creative unit of the City & Guilds award and studetns will be encouraged to experiment with different materials and styles.

 We must be informed of any cancellations at least two weeks prior to the commencement of the course. If we are not informed in this time, a £50.00 administration charge will be levied. Shepherds Bookbinders reserve the right to cancel or postpone a course, and will endeavour to give notice two weeks before the start date. In these circumstances a full refund will be made.
